    Palmer Lake Neighborhood Descriptions

    Tucked away in the northwestern corner of El Paso County, near the Monument real estate area is the Town of Palmer Lake. Palmer Lake is a small community located to the north of the Colorado Springs real estate area. It is one of three communities in the Tri-Lakes region between Denver and Colorado Springs. The Tri-Lakes region consists of Lake Woodmoor, Monument Lake and Palmer Lake. The Town of Palmer Lake is conveniently located off of Highway 105 and Interstate I-25. The historical Palmer Lake real estate area was established in 1883.

    The downtown area of Palmer Lake has shops, restaurants and a museum. Bordering the Palmer Lake real estate area to the east is the Santa Fe Trail. The trail is 15 miles long and runs from the town of Monument to the south boundary of the USAF Academy. During the summer, fall and spring biking, hiking, and horseback riding occupy the trail. In the winter, cross-country skiing and snowshoing take place on this extensive trail. Situated in the north part of town is Palmer Lake.

Palmer Ridge High School is a new high school in Monument that serves the Woodmoor, Monument, and Lewis Palmer areas.

    Neighboring Communities

    Situated to the south of the Palmer Lake real estate area is the town of Monument, Colorado. Lewis Palmer Middle School and Lewis Palmer High School are located in the Monument real estate area. Different types of ranches and farms are located to the north of the Town of Palmer Lake. Traveling north you will see buffalo, cattle, alpacas, exquisite horse ranches, with custom homes intertwined with the ranches. The Woodmoor real estate area and the beautiful Woodmoor Country Club are located to the east of Palmer Lake, as well as Jackson Creek real estate and Kings Deer real estate areas. Palmer Lake rests at the foothills of the Front Range and backs to the Pike National Forest to the west.

    Commuting

    The Palmer Lake real estate area has easy access to Interstate 25 and Highway 105. Highway 105 ends on the south end of Denver. Interstate 25 provides access north and south to Denver and Colorado Springs. The neighboring community of Monument to the south is accessed from Interstate 25. The Front Range Express (FREX) bus serves the Monument Park and Ride near the Monument exit for your easy commute to Denver. Located to the north of the USAF Academy, the Town of Palmer Lake is a possibility for your Colorado Springs PCS. There are many resident commuters in the Palmer Lake real estate area.

    Recreation

    Centennial Park is located on the west side of Palmer Lake. It includes a baseball field, trail, and covered picnic area. Glen Park includes tennis courts, walking trail, and a playground area.

    Located around Palmer Lake is an El Paso County Regional Recreation area. A walking trail (approximately 1 mile) runs along the perimeter of the lake. The lake also has a handicap fishing dock and benches on the north end. An El Paso County park is located on the east side of the lake and is county maintained and regulated. The Santa Fe Regional Trail and trailhead are all located across the lake. The trail is 15 miles long, gravel, and drops 1200 feet in elevation as it goes towards the Colorado Springs real estate area. Along the Santa Fe Trail there is abundant wildlife, wildflowers, grasslands, and geological rock formations.

    Approximately 25 minutes to the north is the town of Castle Rock. Castle Rock has a huge factory outlet store complex. Shoppers from Denver and Colorado Springs travel to Castle Rock for this discounted shopping opportunity. To the south in Colorado Springs, approximately 15 minutes, is the Chapel Hills Mall. The Mall has entertainment and shopping.
