The Security Subdivision is located southeast of the City of Colorado Springs in the Fountain Valley real estate area. This City of Colorado Springs real estate area was established in 1953-1999. Most of Highway 85/87 is a business district except for the Venetucci Farm. East of the Security real estate area is the Pheasant Run Ranch Subdivision. The Pheasant Run Ranch real estate area is a newer subdivision that was established in the 1980s. North of the Security Subdivision is undeveloped land.

Located in the neighboring Fountain Valley Ranch Subdivision is the Widefield Community Center. The Community Center is owened and operated by the Widefield School District No. 3. The Fountain Creek Regional Trail is part of the City of Colorado Springs trail system and runs to the west of Highway 85/87. The trail is from Janitell Bridge through Fountain Creek Regional Park and is approximately 10 1/2 miles long. The trail and park provide the perfect atmosphere for a family outing including: Hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Wildlife is abundant along the trail.
An influential community proponent in the Security Subdivision is the Venetucci Farm. The Farm gives away countless pumpkins annually to school aged children. Established in 1936 the Farm teaches children about agriculture.
The Security Subdivision has shopping available in the Subdivision. A Walmart and Walgreens are located in the Subdivision.
