    Cascade Neighborhood Descriptions

    The quaint mountain community of Cascade is located in western El Paso County. This Teller County real estate area rests in the foothills of Pikes Peak, an estimated 6 miles from the City of Colorado Springs real estate. The Cascade real estate area is the site of the famous Pikes Peak International Hill Climb and the North Pole (home of Santa's Workshop). You can see the famous Ferris wheel at the North Pole as you travel up and down Highway 24. Cascade is located in the Ute Pass real estate area and was established in 1887-1888. The Cascade Community Park and hiking trails are located in the community. Pikes Peak is 14,110 feet in elevation and has many hikers each year that hike to the summit of the Peak.

    Living in the mountains and commuting to Fort Carson real estate is an approximate 28 minute drive, or 18.04 miles. Traveling down Highway 24 to the east brings you to Peterson Air Force Base real estate in an estimated 34 minutes, or 21.97 miles. The Colorado Springs Airport is an approximate 27 minute drive, or 19.29 miles. Continuing into the mountains on Highway 24, which borders the Cascade real estate area, takes you to ski areas and Cripple Creek.

    Recreation

    The North Pole is a great family theme park where you can take your kids to the North Pole to meet Santa Claus and his elves. The park has many different rides, animals, and magic shows. The village has shops with unique gifts.

    The Pikes Peak Toll Road takes you to the top of Pikes Peak. The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb and ADAmAn Club New Years Fireworks display are annual events that take place on Pikes Peak. Access to the toll road is in Cascade.

    In the nearby town of Manitou Springs you can ride a Swiss-style train tour for 3 hours, or take the Manitou incline up 8,600 feet to the top of Mount Manitou on the east side of Pikes Peak. There is plenty of shopping and interesting places to visit in the historical City of Manitou Springs.

    Wildlife is abundant on Pikes Peak. The yellow bellied marmot, black bear, and big horn sheep inhabit the Peak. Pikes Peak has a herd of about 250-300 sheep that reside near timberline year around. The Big Horn Sheep is the state animal.

    The North Slope Recreation area is located off of the Pikes Peak Highway. The area has three reservoirs: The North Catamount Reservoir, the South Catamount Reservoir, and the Crystal Creek Reservoir. Fishing and mountain biking and hiking trails are plentiful in the North Slope Recreation area. Boats are allowed on the reservoirs. There are designated picnic areas in the North Slope Recreation area to protect the wildlife.
